Pause, get curious, and explore your possibilities
A gentle, collaborative approach to hypnotherapy that creates space for self-discovery, new perspectives, and meaningful change at your own pace.

WHAT YOU’RE CARRYING
Perhaps there are experiences, fears, old patterns, or emotional wounds that still affect you. You may understand some of what’s going on intellectually, but feel like there’s more beneath the surface that you’d like to explore.
You know there is still so much of you in there — your curiosity, your strength, your light, your hopes — even if some of it feels harder to access right now.
HOW HYPNOTHERAPY HELPS
Hypnotherapy can offer a gentle space to turn inward, get curious, and explore what might be getting in the way of living in a way that feels more aligned with who you are.
You don't have to have everything figured out before we begin.
Let’s start with a conversation and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
You're in the right place if...
-
You’re someone who feels deeply.
-
You care about other people, your community, and the world around you.
-
You're thoughtful, open-minded, and always trying to grow into a fuller, more authentic version of yourself.
And maybe you’ve been through some shit.

My path here hasn't been a straight line. I've spent years studying and working in very different worlds, including six years of academic study in Women’s & Gender Studies, with a focus on bodies, health, and disability.
I've worked for provincial Ministers of Health, in community settings, and as a homeschooling parent, and my training and interests have ranged from permaculture to somatic sex education.
All of these experiences have shaped how I see people: as whole, complex human beings who can't be reduced to a diagnosis, a problem, or something that needs to be fixed.
My Background
Why I Do This Work
My journey into hypnotherapy was also deeply personal.
After experiencing a traumatic birth, I was looking for support with the effects of PTSD and eventually decided to try hypnotherapy. My own experience surprised me. It helped me explore and work with parts of my experience that had continued to feel stuck, even after the emergency itself was over.
Over time, I also found hypnotherapy to be a meaningful part of my own journey with complex trauma and a phobia, alongside other forms of support and approaches I had explored.
There's room for these conversations, too
Our relationship with ourselves can touch many parts of life, including our bodies, relationships, sexuality, intimacy and desire.
These things don't need to be the reason you come to hypnotherapy, but if they're part of what you're exploring, they're welcome in our conversations.
My background in Somatic Sex Education gives me additional training and experience in these areas, and I bring that perspective when it's relevant to the person I'm working with.

Hi, I'm Myfanwy
I’m a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, but I don't see myself as someone who has all the answers about your life.
I see my role as a supporter and guide — someone who can walk alongside you as you explore your own inner world.
My Approach & Philosophy
My approach is client-centred, curious, and flexible. We can make space for whatever arises rather than trying to force your experience into a particular box.
I avoid pathologizing language, I occasionally swear, and I may share something from my own experience when it feels genuinely relevant and helpful.
Most importantly, I want to co-create a comfortable, safe-enough space where you can show up as your full self.
All of you is welcome here
I want our work to make room for the whole person you are — your experiences, identities, relationships, questions, and the things that matter to you.
I welcome and affirm people across sexual orientations, gender identities, races, cultures, abilities, neurotypes, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I know that our experiences aren't shaped by our individual histories alone. Culture, family, community, social expectations, and systems of power can all play a part in how we see ourselves and move through the world.
I'm committed to approaching our work with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to listen rather than make assumptions about your experience.

That doesn't mean hypnotherapy is a magic solution, or that everyone's experience will look like mine.
But my experiences helped me understand just how powerful it can be to approach our inner worlds with focused attention, curiosity, and compassion.
That's part of what brings me to this work. I believe that even when we've been through some shit, there can still be parts of us that are curious, hopeful, playful, creative, and very much alive. I'd be honoured to support you as you get curious about your own experience and explore what might be possible for you.

Hypnotherapy. The Brain.
The Body.
Our brains and bodies are constantly learning, adapting, and responding to our experiences. Sometimes we develop patterns that once helped us but no longer feel useful or aligned with who we are.
HOW HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS
Hypnotherapy offers an opportunity to slow down, turn inward, and become curious about your inner experience.
During hypnosis, you remain awake and in control. It is not about someone taking over your mind. Instead, hypnosis involves focused attention and can help you become more absorbed in your thoughts, feelings, imagination, and bodily sensations.
Our brains are capable of change throughout our lives. This is known as neuroplasticity. Through new experiences and repeated practice, we can gradually develop new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding.

Testimonials
I couldn't believe the progress in such a short time. I've tried other therapies in the past and none of them had the immediate results as hypnotherapy with Myfanwy. I was blown away by what was uncovered and how we could shift my perspectives to positive ones.
Doing six sessions of hypnotherapy with Myfanwy Van Vliet was INCREDIBLY helpful for me. I have worked with a handful of counselors to address mental health challenges over the years but nothing has worked nearly as well as hypnotherapy.
My hypnotherapy appointments with Myfanwy allowed me to explore different topics, concerns, and areas of 'suckedness' from a place of true self-compassion and openness. When previously assigned 'homework' from counseling sessions, I would struggle to take any action. However, after my hypnotherapy sessions, I was actually excited to take action on ideas that came up in the sessions - and real shifts have happened.
I'm a daughter of two biologists and a sister to another and so I am very much grounded in science. Prior to trying hypnotherapy with Myfanwy, I didn't know what to expect. However, after a number of sessions, I feel that this approach to dealing with personal challenges, from a place of safety and real positivity (in the best sense), is incredibly powerful.
Myfanwy listened super closely to what I wanted to get out of the sessions and tailored the sessions to my needs. I feel lighter, happier, and a lot more capable to take on challenges thanks to her amazing work!
